New Lists of GOST Standards Have Been Adopted for EAC TR CU 005 for Packaging | 2020
On January 22, 2020, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) officially published the decision No. 12, to adopt new versions of the lists of GOST standards for TR CU 005/2011 “On safety packaging”.
The document was approved a few days earlier and comes into force July 1, 2020.
After the updated lists of standards take effect, paragraph 2 of the decision of the Commission of the Customs Union No. 769 of August 16, 2011, which adopted the very first versions of the lists of GOST standards to TR CU 005/2011, will no longer be valid. It is important to note that the lists have been updated several times in the past, but now a decision of a complete review has been made.
178 standards were selected in the new edition of the list on the safety requirements of packaging and packaging materials. Some of them will be applied only until January 1, 2021. For example, those include:
- Metal jars for dairy products;
- Metal and combination cans;
- Corrugated cardboard boxes for confectionery, meat, dairy and light industry products and for some other goods.
Testing methods for packaging and closures are presented in the new list, that consists of 297 items. Some of the standards also have a limited period of application. For example, a methodology for measuring heavy metal concentrations in aqueous matrices by flame atomic absorption spectrometry can be used only until January 1, 2021.
Methodical recommendations and instructions will be valid until inclusion in the list of relevant interstate standards.
We can provide the list of adopted standards upon request.
