TR CU 008/2011: EAC certification schemes for toys will be reduced in 2024
On January 29, 2024, the Decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) No. 5 of January 26, 2024 was officially published. It approves the changes to Technical Regulation of the Customs Union (TR CU 008/2011) “On the safety of toys”.
The most important changes concern the certification schemes for toys. The confirmation forms itself have not changed. As before, toys are subject to certification only. But the certification will be carried out only according to one of two schemes: 1c or 3c. Until now, certification can additionally be made according to scheme 2c.
- Scheme 1c is used to certify a serial production of toys. According to it, samples should be tested in an accredited laboratory and an audit of the manufacturing site should be performed.
- Scheme 2c is also applicable to the serial production but instead the site audit, it requires the presence of a certified management system (ISO). This scheme will be canceled from July 27, 2024.
- Scheme 3c is used for a batch of toys and considers testing a sample of samples in an accredited laboratory.
There will be six months of transition period. The new edition of TR CU 008/2011 will come into force on July 27, 2024.
