Remote Site Audits for EAC Certification during the Pandemic Have Been Extended
On January 21, 2022, a report about the extension of temporary measures for EAC certification of products during the pandemic, according to which opportunity to carry out remote site audit is extended, was published on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The extension document was adopted by the decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission on December 21, 2021, but still has not been officially published
The temporary procedure for EAC certification of serially supplied products during the COVID-19 pandemic was approved by the decision of the EEC Council No. 127 dated December 23, 2020. It was valid until January 10, 2022. These measures allow conducting remote site audits in a video conferencing format instead of real ones. During the procedure, it is mandatory to indicate of geolocation of the production site.
Due to the positive effect on the industry and business community, it was decided to extend these measures for another year.
During the review of this decision, it was also decided to complement temporary measures by adding the possibility of carrying out annual inspection control of EAC Certificates in the form of the remote site audit.
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexei Uchenov said:
«I would like to highlight the possibility to conduct annual inspection control of certified products by conducting a remote production site analysis. This is relevant when working with technically complex, large-sized products (cars, boilers), the import of which for testing into the EAC territory carries an excessive economic burden, both on the manufacturer and in the future on the consumer».
