EAC TR CU 004 or TR CU 012 for Switchboards and Control Units
WWG has certified a wide range of different equipment. We would like to share our experience and describe the process of certification.
In this article, we would like to study the process of EAC certification of switching boxes also known as control systems. Control units should comply with Technical Regulation of the Customs Union “On safety of low voltage devices” (TR CU 004/2011).
In some cases, TR CU 020/2011 “Electromagnetic compatibility of technical means” (EMC) can be also added to EAC certificate TR CU 004 (LVD). Therefore, two regulations are included in the same Certificate.
If switchboards are Ex-proof, they are subject to TR CU 012/2011 “On safety of the equipment operating in hazardous environment” instead of TR CU 004 (LVD).
A certificate is valid on the whole territory of the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kirgizstan).
The mandatory requirements to issue a certificate TR CU are sample testing and site audit. An expert from a certification body travels to a production site to conduct an overview, collect necessary documents and select a sample for testing. When a site audit is conducted, a sample should be sent to a laboratory where it is tested. Based on test results, a test report is issued
The lead time of issuing a certificate TR CU 004+020 is 20 days. The lead time for a certificate TR CU 012 is 45 days. However, we advise preparing all the documents in advance taking into consideration the time required to the site audit and sample testing.
The maximum validity of the certificate is 5 years.
