EAC Label Requirements for Ex-Proof Products (TR CU 012/2011)
In order to export Hazardous Location (haz loc) equipment to the Customs Union, Certificate of Conformity with Technical Regulation “On safety of the equipment operating in hazardous environment” (TR CU 012/2011 EAC) for Explosion proof products is required.
There are special requirements for explosion proof products that are exported to TR CU. They should be marked in a prominent place on the main part of the equipment. Label should be clear and durable, even with possible chemical corrosion.
Labeling for Ex-Products should include:
- Name of the manufacturer or his registered trademark;
- Designation of the type of equipment;
- Year of manufacture of equipment;
- Designation of the group and level of explosion protection of equipment;
- Ex- sign indicating that the electrical equipment meets the standards for explosion protection of a particular type - for electrical equipment;
- Designation of type of protection;
- Designation of the equipment group;
- For equipment of group II - the designation of the temperature class, or the maximum surface temperature, or both. If both of these data are indicated on the label, the temperature class must be indicated last, in parentheses;
- Serial number, except:
- connecting fittings;
- small-sized equipment with a limited surface (the batch number can be considered as an alternative to the serial number);
- Name or sign of the certification body and certificate number (when issuing the certificate);
- Special conditions for safe use, if necessary. In this case, the sign "X" should be placed after the explosion protection marking or the number of the "technical file". Instead of an X, a warning can be used;
- Any other additional marking prescribed by specific explosion protection standards;
- Any marking required by the standards for equipment of a particular type.
In the case of using different parts of equipment with different types of explosion protection, each corresponding part in the marking should have a designation of the type of explosion protection.
If several types of explosion protection are used in the equipment, the designation of the main type of explosion protection should be put first, and then other types.
On small equipment with a limited surface, label can be reduced, but, nevertheless, the marking should include:
- Name or registered trademark of the manufacturer;
- Designation of type of protection;
- Ex- sign and the designation of the type of explosion protection - for electrical equipment;
- Name or sign of the certification body;
- Designation of the type of electrical equipment or Ex-component - for electrical equipment;
- Certificate number;
- The X sign, if necessary;
- The X sign for electrical equipment, if provided, or the U sign for the Ex component.
