EAC Certification of Industrial Systems and Units that Consist of Multiple Components | Case Study
When it comes to EAC certification of industrial systems and units that consist of multiple components, it may not be clear how the certification of such equipment is conducted. This concerns certification of air handling units, water cooling systems, water heating systems, production lines, modular process skids and other industrial units.
Each case of certification of complex industrial systems should be regarded individually, however, sometimes, these systems and units may only need to receive one declaration of conformity with Technical Regulations of the Customs Union 010/2011 “On safety of machines and equipment” + 004/2011 “On safety of low voltage devices” + 020/2011 “Electromagnetic compatibility of technical means”. To understand the process in details, see our case study below.
Recently, WWG was contacted by a European manufacturer of water-cooling systems who required assistance with EAC certification of its equipment. The system consisted of 20 different components including: tanks, filter and heater blocks, pump, washer, connectors, plugs, etc. The manufacturer was not sure whether he needed to certify the system as one complete unit or to certify all of the unit’s components.
If all of the system’s components were regarded separately, then each component would need to receive a separate declaration TR CU depending on its technical characteristics, which would result in over 10 declarations of conformity. However, upon closer examination of the system, it was clear that all of the components were indispensable parts of the system and would be used only in the system itself. This condition allowed to regard the system as one complete unit and it was suggested to obtain one declaration TR CU 010 + 004 + 020 that would cover the whole system including all of its components. Before the declaration could be issued, it was necessary to issue a safety justification, which is a mandatory document for TR CU 010 “On safety of Machines and equipment”.
After the safety justification for the system was issued, shortly, the declaration TR CU 010 + 004 + 020 was registered. These two documents were sufficient for EAC conformity assessment and eventually the system was successfully transported to Russia.
