The Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union discuss approaches in technical regulation systems
Parties are interested in sharing their experience in the field of technical regulation. Much of the technical regulations of the EAEU are adopted on the basis of European directives.
A draft agreement on the procedure and conditions for the elimination of technical barriers in mutual trade was discussed. This document will establish mechanisms for mutual recognition of the results of conformity assessment (certificates) between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and non-member countries. The adoption of this Agreement is planned for the current year.
This will help remove trade barriers with third countries, reduce the cost of confirming the compliance of the goods supplied with the requirements of our technical regulations, and will help increase trade between the EAEU and the European Union.
One of the promising tasks of the Eurasian Economic Union in the field of technical regulation is the development of digitalization. In particular, the EEC is considering the possibility of digitizing standardization processes, as well as creating a system for informing about hazardous products using the experience of operating a system for the rapid exchange of information on unsafe products in EU.
