Russian Accreditation System is developing in line with international standards
President of Russia has signed Federal Law No. 262-FZ, which significantly changes the national accreditation system.
The changes are aimed at combatting with unscrupulous conformity assessment companies and at better cooperation between RusAccreditation (Russian Federal Accreditation Service) and accredited organizations.
According to this Law:
- An "Extract from a unified register of accredited entities" verifies accreditation in a certain area;
- RusAccreditation gets access to information classified as state, tax and commercial secrets;
- RusAccreditation is entitled to to set up technical commissions and teams to take decisions whether to accredit an applicant or to deny them to accredit;
- Non-accredited entities will not be able to advertise their conformity assessment services. Accredited organizations have to indicate their unique accreditation number.
Thus, the adoption of Federal Law No. 262-FZ is the next step to improve legislation in the Russian accreditation system, and to bring it in line with the requirements of international accreditation organizations – the International Laboratory Accreditation Organization (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
