EAC TR CU 020, FSS and TELECOM Requirements for TPMS Systems
Tire pressure monitoring systems also known as TPMS supplied and sold to EAEU countries (for example Russia), are subject to mandatory certification in accordance with EAC TR CU and national regulations. Several conformity documents need to be obtained before TPMS can be exported to EAEU countries.
Tire pressure monitoring systems are subject to:
- EAC TR CU 020/2011 “Electromagnetic compatibility of technical means”
- FSS Notification
- Telecom (FAC) Declaration
Tire pressure monitoring systems require an EAC declaration of conformity with TR CU 020/2011. It takes 5-10 working days to issue a declaration of conformity.
Tire pressure monitoring systems usually have various interfaces and wireless technologies that use encryption, therefore FSS (FSB) requirements need to be fulfilled in order to export the equipment to EAEU countries. To fulfill these requirements, FSS notification or FSS exemption letter must be obtained for each type of tire pressure monitoring system. It usually takes 15 – 20 working days to obtain an FSS notification. One of the requirements of FSS is to provide an original hard copy of notarized and apostilled Power of Attorney from manufacturer to applicant. It takes around 2 weeks to prepare such document, thus increasing the overall timeline.
Tire pressure monitoring systems are subject to national telecom standards. The systems are used in technological networks that may have access to common commutation networks, therefore they should comply with national telecommunication standards. To export the system to Russia, a Russian telecom declaration should be issued. It takes around 45 days to issue Russian telecom declaration.
Each EAEU country has its own telecommunication standards. Therefore, depending on the country the system is supplied to, it should have a relevant telecom certificate or a declaration.
