Draft amendments to TR CU 012/2011 (Ex-proof cables) EAC 2021
Draft amendments to TR CU 012/2011 "On safety of equipment operating in hazardous environments" was presented for public discussion
On September 10, 2021 the draft decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) "On Amendments to technical regulation of the Customs Union "On safety of equipment operating in hazardous environments" (TR CU 012/2011) was presented for public discussion.
The main changes in the following EAC regulation concern the addition of cables for external electrical circuits intended for use in explosive atmospheres to the area of regulation.
The conformity assessment of explosion protection of cables for external electrical circuits will verify compliance with the requirements of the following indicators:
- surface electrical resistance;
- impact resistance;
- partial longitudinal sealing;
- leading disconnection.
Parameters are set in the standards for groups of homogeneous products.
Cables for external electrical circuits intended for use in explosive environments will have to be marked with the designation " Ex-".
In addition, the draft also clarifies that TR СU 012/2011 will be applied to the electrical equipment, including Ex-components, and non-electrical equipment for working in explosive environments included in:
- personal protection equipment;
- maritime vessels and ships of inland and mixed (river-sea) navigation;
- mobile offshore platforms;
- drilling platforms for work in marine and inland waters and other floating facilities;
- machinery and equipment, public transport vehicles for the transportation of passengers and cargo
In addition to changes to the regulation itself, public discussion is also held on the lists of standards for cables intended for use in explosive atmospheres. So far there are 2 standards for cables with voltages up to 1000 V and 3 standards for cables with voltages over 1000 V in the draft list of requirements. The draft list of test methods for cables includes 33 standards.
The public discussion is due to end on October 7, 2021.
