Cable EAC certification in Russia: what you should know
Compliance to Customs Union Technical Regulations is required when exporting cables to the countries of the Customs Union. Certificate of conformity with Technical Regulation of the Customs Union “On safety of low-voltage equipment” (ТR СU 004/2011) must be obtained.
This regulation covers the products that have the following technical characteristics: voltage up to 1000 V (for AC) and voltage up to 1500 V (for DC). TR CU Certificate is valid for all countries of the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan).
All cables with higher voltage require mandatory GOST R certification since no related Technical Regulation of the Customs Union came into force yet. GOST R certificate is valid only for Russia.
Please note that TR CU Certificates require an Applicant that is a legal entity or an individual entrepreneur registered in the territory of the Customs Union.

Previously, Fire Safety certificate was mandatory to export cables. In accordance with TR CU regulation, cables are subject only to TR CU 004/2011 “On safety of low-voltage equipment”. Anyway, a certificate should be issued after conducting fire safety tests. The principle problem is that not all certification authorities have properly equipped laboratories to conduct such tests.
Therefore, we recommend you to obtain a voluntary Fire Safety certificate on the basis of which a TR CU certificate may be issued. Please be advised that Fire Safety certificate is valid only for Russia.
