BRICS countries strengthen cooperation in metrology and standardization
The 18th meeting of the BRICS Contact Team on Trade and Economic Issues was held on 10-12 May in East London (South Africa). The development of cooperation with the countries of the integration association at the event was discussed with the participation of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the national metrology and accreditation bodies of South Africa, the Ministry of Industry of Brazil, as well as various departments of India and China.
The meetings of industry working groups devoted to issues of intellectual property, electronic commerce were attended. Participants reviewed the draft of the Working Mechanism on Technical Regulation, Standardization, Metrology, Conformity Assessment and Accreditation. It is aimed at providing information exchange, as well as implementing joint projects in these areas between the competent departments of the BRICS countries.
Special attention was paid to the quality infrastructure systems of the BRICS countries in order to develop specific areas of cooperation and identify responsible departments.
